Just because a project demands a complex list of interactions doesn't mean the user experience should be overly complicated. User usability and comfort are essential, regardless of the context.
In this project, we had to tackle this challenge. On the one hand, we aimed to create an experience rich in interactions and different from what is typically done in virtual reality, but at the same time, ensure the user could navigate and feel comfortable throughout. To achieve this, we tried to keep interaction patterns to a minimum, thereby reducing the learning curve. On the other hand, we aimed for mechanisms that were natural, spontaneous, and as similar to real life as possible, making them easy to intuit.
Everything is done with your hands, using very few buttons, and in many cases, mechanisms activate automatically upon detecting our presence. This makes the experience feel dynamic and surprising without requiring the user to undergo complex learning to get around.
